Devil All the Time

Lucifer, an urban fantasy show created in 2016, tells the story of the fallen angel who grows tired of hell and decides to relocate to Los Angeles, where he becomes a police consultant. This was my favorite show in middle school (next to dexter), and I still love it to this day, but just like all the best shows, the ending has tainted it. Lucifer had originally premiered on Fox, but it was canceled and picked up by Netflix and it shows. The first 3 seasons were funny, a little dark but it was creative, and it was obvious that the show didn't take itself too seriously.  Then Netflix came along and made all corny.  I would definitely recommend the first few seasons, it's an easy show to binge watch.   SCENES: Lucifer - Best Moments (youtube.com) Best of Lucifer | Netflix (youtube.com) Lucifer vs The Korean Gang S03E13 - YouTube

Technology Is Bad, Click to Find Out Why!

Image
Black Mirror is a British sci-fi anthology series created in 2011 that explores the dangers of technology and how its consequences can alter society for the worst. The show has gained popularity because each episode ends in some kind of mind-bending twist.  The first episode I ever saw of Black Mirror was "USS Callister" which followed an outcast video game developer who made clones of his coworkers and put them inside a Star Trek-like simulation. I was instantly hooked.  Each episode leaves you staring at your tv trying to wrap your head around what you just watched. The show has notably gone down in quality and creativity since its move to America, but I would say it's still worth giving a watch. I Care Somewhat

Image
I Care a Lot is a Netflix original movie made in 2021 about a court-appointed legal guardian who defrauds her elderly clients.  The reviews for this movie are pretty split. It's loved by those on Rotten Tomatoes but hated by IMDB. Reviewers say that it had a strong start but flopped towards the end, the characters are too unlikable, or just that it's flat out boring.  I don't know if it was the story or the amazing performances by the actors, but I liked it. The plot was creative and sure, the mafia bit did come out of nowhere but that's what made it interesting. If it were just a movie about a woman scamming little old ladies that would be depressing. I'm also not someone who believes that main characters have to be likable or good which our leading lady is definitely not. This movie is different from anything I've seen in a while and that's worth something.  So, who do you trust, real movie critics or me? I don't know.  I would suggest watching I Care...

America's Favorite Serial Killer

Image
Dexter, created in 2006, is a crime drama surrounding a forensic analysist who leads a secret life as a vigilante serial killer hunting down murders.  Dexter is my favorite show. I watched it on a whim in middle school and immediately became obsessed. The suspense keeps you one your toes,  the murders have all the blood and gore that any true crime lover could want,  and Dexters internal dialogue is truly the gift that keeps on giving.  Although I love this show, it is fact that Dexter has one of the worst series finales in television history (next to Game of Thrones).  The show wrapped up back in 2013, but Showtime recently dropped a sequel called Dexter: New Blood. I've only seen a few episodes so far, but fingers crossed they have redeemed themselves. Some of my favorite scenes: "What is it with you and rape?" Dexter vs  Doakes Dexter confronts his neighbor about her  crying dog

The Worst Hospital in Seattle

Image
Greys Anatomy, created in 2005, is a medical drama surrounding the personal and professional lives of five surgical interns. Popular with 18–34-year-olds, Greys Anatomy is ABC's longest-running scripted show at 19 seasons.  I like this show and I can see why people want more of it. The characters feel real, the romance between Derek and Meridith is full of tension, and the medical cases - however inaccurate - keep you engaged. My favorite case is the guy who swallowed 7 doll heads for "no reason". The doctors get way too involved with their patients' lives and do things that they would definitely end up in jail for, but you'll love them anyway.  But here's t he thing, because the show has been on for so long, it starts to pull these crazy stunts to keep things interesting.   W hat's even crazier is that despite all the outrageous storylines, you can usually predict how the episodes will play out. If a patient thinks they have a bri...

You're Undead to Me

The Vampire Diaries, which debuted in 2009, is a supernatural teen drama centered around a young girl who finds herself trapped in a love triangle between two vampire brothers. The pilot episode of the show premiered on The CW and generated the largest audience the network had ever seen since it began in 2006.  I personally don't care for supernatural shows, I feel that they always rely too much on magic to make up for a weak plot , but this one was okay. I'm not a fan of love triangles either because they're predictable, and TVD is no different, but I have to admit, they do manage to keep it interesting.  There is plenty of drama and plot twists to keep you engaged during the hour-long episodes.  Most scenes contain spoilers but here are some anyway: Elena Meets Stefan Bonnie Is Tired Of Witch History Damon Hopes That Elena Dies (

Maybe Community College Isn't So Bad

Image
Community is a comedy series created in 2009 about an unlikely group of friends attending Greendale Community College. Although during its run the show received low ratings, t he series has managed to establish a devoted following and is now considered a cult classic in the world of comedy television. Not many comedy shows can make me laugh out loud but this one never fails. The pop culture jokes are very 2000 yet they age well.  The  characters  are quirky, but you grow to care for them.  If you're a fan of shows like Schitt's Creek or Arrested Development, I highly recommend giving Community a watch. Iconic Community scenes:   Dean Pelton's  payday rap  (speaks for itself). Jeff and Pierce improvise an hour-long Spanish presentation when the actual assignment was to say five words in Spanish. The group is trapped in a space  simulation  made in the 80s and also sponsored by KFC.
